Telehealth has greatly expanded women’s access to abortion and other reproductive services, yet many women still struggle to find comprehensive care that listens to their concerns, investigates underlying causes, and respects their fertility. The Guiding Star Project seeks to fill that gap through Guiding Star Telehealth, expanding access to a model of women’s healthcare that recognizes the inherent dignity of the female body and takes a wholistic, life-affirming approach to women’s health. The model centers on four areas of care: NFP and family planning; pregnancy care and birth services; breastfeeding and postpartum care; and motherhood and family life.
Meet the Spokespersons
Laura Ducote • FNP-C, FCP
Laura Ducote, FNP-C, FCP, is a wife, mother of four on earth, Family Nurse Practitioner and FertilityCare Practitioner. She has over a decade of experience in teaching natural family planning and providing a restorative, whole-person approach to women’s healthcare. Her Restorative Reproductive Medicine training includes Naprotechnology, the Creighton Model, and FEMM Medical Management. As a Nurse Practitioner with the Guiding Star Project, she sees adolescent and adult women for an array of women’s health problems including PCOS, painful periods, irregular cycles, thyroid disease, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, postpartum care, and peri/menopausal changes. She is very passionate about providing education on all topics of women’s healthcare and practicing medicine that integrates mind, body, and soul, inviting the Divine Physician into every step of the process. Laura and her family reside in Pelham, AL.
Leah A. Jacobson • MA, IBLC
Leah A. Jacobson, MA, IBCLC, is the Founder and CEO of the Guiding Star Project. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with more than 20 years of experience, Leah provides personalized breastfeeding support to help mothers overcome challenges, improve latch and milk transfer, and reach their feeding goals. She brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work supporting women and strengthening families. Leah and her husband reside in Ironton, Minnesota with their eight children.
